Am I the only one who sees DKC 2 as having cheap shots and sometimes unfair gameplay throughout? An example of a level that gets difficulty right is Screech's sprint, particularly the first half. After you put the 9th barrel in K Rool's gun the fight should be over, whether he hits you or not. But don't force a player to play the ENTIRE level over again (and potentially multiple times) because they couldn't get perfect timing. Why, in a level filled with wonderful secrets is this reward so stupidly placed? If the DK coin was at the very end of the level, that'd be fine. Another case is the DK Coin at the end of Web Woods. Why punish players who need to practice with squawks by forcing them to replay the tedious squitter part over and over again. put the continue barrel when Squitter reaches the brambles and neckies. The Rambi and Enguarde parts are so easy and quick, that the continue barrel should have been after the Squitter part, i.e. This level is unfair not for the squawks part, but for the terrible positioning of the midway barrel. This means 1 wrong jump means you must suicide until you get it perfect. ![]() For example in Toxic Tower, if you jump on the bee platforms, and fall down, they don't respawn. ![]() Donkey Kong Country 2 is a marvelous game, filled with some of the best game play I've ever had the fortune of experiencing.
